Give the gift of recognition

At Result CIC our philosophy is 'celebrate when you can'. We do regular work on shifting to a positive mindset. This shift can often lead to actions which lead to greater satisfaction and happiness – and give cause for celebration.

So at this time of year where there is a focus on giving, we are happy to pass on Shaw Trust͛s message about their annual Power List of influential disabled people. They are keen to get as wide a range of nominations as possible to reflect the exceptional contribution disabled people make across society.

Clare Gray, Disability Advocacy Adviser for Shaw Trust said ‘There are over 10 million disabled people in Britain, everyone has their own very personal story of overcoming barriers to succeed but often their stories are left untold. Our panel of judges are looking for individuals who are truly breaking the stigma around disability, helping to create a world accessible to everyone.’

Another important aim of the Power List is to offer role models to younger disabled people – encouragement and inspiration that they can fulfil their potential.

Do you know someone with a disability who may be quietly changing the world around them for the better, who you think should be celebrated? Why not consider nominating them? The form is short and simple. You can download it here.

And there is information about the criteria for choosing from nominated candidates here.

Why not give it a try? You never know – you might make someone's day – and year!
