It's all go at Result CIC

Workshop_main

We can’ t believe that this is the end of the first quarter of 2019! Time really does fly at an alarming rate.

We have been working hard on some new opportunities and below summarise progress with new and existing clients:

Awards for All (Big Lottery ) / George House Trust (GHT)

We have already worked a couple of times with GHT, whose support is highly appreciated by People Living with HIV (PLWHIV). The completion of our previously funded project, working with people living with Sickle Cell, meant that we were eligible to try again for another project.

Andy Hilton, our Director Emeritus, successfully submitted an application to partner with GHT again to provide 1-1 coaching for PLWHIV. The project is called ‘Coaching through transitions’ and together, Andy and GHT agreed that the funding would be best used to offer coaching support for these people:

  • Recently diagnosed and re-assessing life choices and possibilities.
  • Recently granted leave to remain.
  • Under-employed or doing a more junior job than qualified for.
  • Long-term unemployed but now preparing to return to work.

We will be reporting on the progress of this work in the coming months.

Salford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)

We were referred to the Salford CCG by one of our clients. As a Salford based social enterprise, Result CIC is delighted to be running this local project. We have been commissioned to provide support in two areas:

a) Equality Improvement Plan
The Equality Advisory Panel was established in late 2018. The scope of the Equality Improvement Plan is to focus on ensuring due regard is given to the needs of all patients/service users and citizens across the city and subsequently services and interventions are designed and provided in an inclusive way.

Result CIC is to facilitate and provide group coaching bi-monthly sessions for representatives from the following Salford based organisations: Salford City Council, NHS Salford Clinical Commissioning Group, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, Greater Manchester Mental Health, Salford Healthwatch and Salford CVS.

Result CIC has delivered the first session with excitement among participants about the group’s work offering ‘great opportunity to develop and implement an Equality Improvement Plan for Salford'.

b) BAME Mental Health Champions
The BAME Mental Health Champions will be people living or working in Salford who have established links with BAME communities and are known and trusted. Champions will have an interest in and passion for mental health plus an understanding of the needs of BAME communities. Champions will represent a diverse mix of BAME communities and will include representation from Salford’s five neighbourhoods.

Result CIC is to provide monthly workshops and group coaching sessions. This is to help develop confident individuals who will also collaborate to create a strong group of champions. The attendees will also get Mental Health First Aid training as part of the project.

Both these Salford projects will last a year so we will be reporting on developments as we go through the year.

Manchester Health and Care Commissioning (MHCC)

Apart from an important workshop we ran this month for ‘Disability and Inclusion Champions’ network, we have won a new contract to run a total of 7 workshops for Senior Managers entitled ‘Leading with Civility’.

The half-day Champions’ workshop was designed to bring together some of the previous participants from our Disability and Inclusion for Managers programme which we ran last year, partnering with Breakthrough UK. The participants had the opportunity to examine the impact of the programme on them and their practices and also look at what had worked. There was discussion about challenges and areas of improvement, all of which culminated in a clear action plan to strengthen the network.

We are pleased to be continuing our work with managers at MHCC to promote a better working culture with disabled colleagues.

‘Leading with Civility’ is also part of MHCC’s plan to strengthen their already impressive all-inclusive culture within the organisation and then beyond to external stakeholders. We are delighted and excited to start the pilot early in April and again this will be one which we will report on during the year.
