Reflections on 2018

Blog_main_25

We feel it is a privilege to do the training and coaching work we do. We advocate making regular time to reflect and also to appreciate the positive things you have experienced.

So we have done this at Result CIC, considering 2018. Each year brings a host of sparkling highlightsfor us, but we thought we would mention a few of the biggest ‘firsts’ here:

  • After several years of mentioning the importance of supporting managers of disabled staff as well as the disabled staff themselves,we had the opportunity to run our first programmes for managers with Manchester Health Care and Commissioning and Liverpool John Moores University. This experience proved to us that this work is important and more of it needs to happen if workplaces are going to get the best from all their staff.

  • We did our first programme with young disabled people at DaDaFest. The Young Leaders’ honesty, creativity and emotional intelligence made them a joy to work with. We definitely want to do more of this in future!

  • With encouragement from our Advisory Panel, we put together our first Social Impact report. This helped us view what we do differently and boosted our confidence as a small social enterprise, that we are going in the right direction.

  • We started offering a new service, offering social consultancy to partner organisations, with a particular focus on finding the right people. This is in line with our strong belief in the power of networks: we want to do all we can to developthese!

But as ever, the biggest highlight for us was not something new; it was working directly with people who make fresh discoveries, choosing to empower themselves and take a direction which works best for them. It is seeing, hearing and experiencing, with our clients, their increased confidence and belief in themselves and watching with awe as they progress, happier with who they are. That is the single most powerful aspect of our work. And that is what drives the work we do.

Looking ahead to the New Year, we want to keep innovating and e.g. we will be offering intersectional training for mixed diverse groups. But we will always want to celebrate what goes well and offer heartfelt congratulations to all of you wehave worked with on what you have achieved.
