Result CIC wins funding from the Office of Disability Issues (ODI) to deliver an 'achieving excellence' workshop (COPE) in Manchester

The workshop which is to be delivered between July and October 2013, has been given the working name: COPE - Challenge: Organisational and Personal Excellence.

In autumn 2012 Result CIC delivered a development programme with Getting Equal for disability community leaders which included 1-1 coaching. The feedback from this was so positive that the programme was highlighted to the ODI as an example of 'best practice'.

The ODI decided that a similar programme using this model was right for the top tier of DPULOs (Disabled People User-Led Organisations). Result CIC was given the task of designing a programme for this group of senior managers.

Tom Raines and Ryan Lamey from the Greater Manchester Right to Control Trailblazer leads who championed the approach to the ODI, wrote about the programme as follows: "The target audience is for SMTs, Chief Executives and Board Members of DPULOs to benefit from 1-1 coaching and group training to work on their plans for personal and organisational development.

It will enable charity staff to help themselves by setting clear goals and making confident use of all their resources, including their ability to partner externally and innovate in seeking financial stability for their organisation and staff.

Participants will have 6 individual coaching sessions which can focus e.g. on effective handling of funding and other changes in the current very demanding environment. There would also be the opportunity to take part in 5 training days on topics such as ‘using coaching skills in the workplace’ and ‘promoting your message’. The Programme starting end of June and ending October 2013 will bring together the participants from various charities and voluntary organisations for these training days, so it will also provide a major networking opportunity.
