Autumn always brings a sense of change and a new ‘term’ starting doesn’t it? While 2021 has been the strangest year in many respect, this autumn brought that familiar sense of seasonal change at Result CIC. We are seeing new ideas emerging, renewal of great existing projects and are looking ahead to bigger things…
A new more equal approach to mentoring
You may be familiar with the idea of mentoring. But have you ever come across reciprocal mentoring? This is based on the principle of equality between the two partners working together. It can work particularly well when an organisation or group encourages people with the widest range of diverse experience to join. It means each person in the partnership has greater scope to learn in a genuinely two-way process.
We are thrilled that Coventry University will be undertaking their own reciprocal mentoring programme and that we will be supporting them. Our training will include pre-mentoring workshop and action learning sets with smaller groups to encourage sharing of ideas, tips and experience. There will be a final gathering of the whole group at the end of the process. If you are interested in discussing reciprocal mentoring, get in touch.
Result CIC is equally delighted to have been asked to run training in November for Manchester Health and Care Commissioning’s (MHCC’s) Leadership Guardians group as they approach a major change process. The project draws on similar principles for partners from diverse backgrounds mentoring each other.
Renewal: Big Local Community Leadership Academy
Hormoz and Jane were involved as coaches in this project led by Koreo and Local Trust to support and develop leaders working at the heart of their communities to make local-led positive changes. They were privileged to coach individuals through some of the very toughest times during the pandemic. They have now started work with a new group of local leaders in the second wave of the Academy’s work. It is already great to see how the programme is boosting the participants’ confidence and energy levels for achieving change.
Resilience
Result CIC Adviser, Patrick Davies has completed his ‘long way up’ walk of 1,360 miles, including the UK’s 3 highest peaks. He has already raised an impressive £28,000 for Alzheimers UK. Congratulations Patrick! What a superb achievement.
Looking ahead
Jane has been invited to take part in a keynote panel at the Chartered Association of Business Schools – the main professional organisation for leaders of the UK’s Higher Education business institutions. She will contribute to a discussion of tackling inequality and improving inclusion, drawing on her own experience and Result CIC’s 9 years of work in the field. Jane is honoured to be presenting alongside Rita Kakati-Shah, Founder and CEO of Uma, Sandra Kerr CBE, Race Director, Business in the Community and Sir Geoff Palmer, Chancellor of Heriot-Watt University and looks forward to some excellent networking!
Finally, there is a lot to look forward to! It is not yet official so ssh! But in the near future, Result CIC hopes to be able to announce a significant larger project which will see us supporting budding social entrepreneurs from marginalised groups. Watch this space!
