Result CIC wins Lottery Funding to work with people who are HIV+

Result CIC has been successful in securing funding from Awards for All, part of the big lottery fund, to deliver telephone coaching for people living with HIV (PLWHIV) across England.

The scheme provides for six coaching sessions for each participant delivered at a time to suit the individual. Although the coaching will mainly be by telephone it can also be carried out by instant messaging (IM). Coaching by telephone or IM has the advantages of:

Removes the difficulty of travelling to a support centre – the client can stay at home or other convenient location for them.
Some clients are uncomfortable working face-to-face – some people prefer the anonymity of the telephone.
Timing issues – Sessions can be scheduled during the daytime or evening to suit the client’s preference.
Saves travelling time and expense.

Result CIC has a history of delivering coaching for PLWHIV after previous similar programmes funded by the Elton John AIDS Foundation and Manchester City Council.

One client on a previous programme said:

'This opportunity has changed my life and I would recommend this to anyone who wants to make changes. I feel this has been a very encouraging process for me. I would never have applied to attend university without this support.'

On a feedback questionnaire, another person responded to "Things that you found particularly helpful", with:

'Your support at a time when I was feeling vulnerable both physically and mentally. Although the main focus of the coaching was for employment advice, discussing my feelings of isolation and stagnating with nothing to look forward to were equally important. The fact that you are able to adapt your style and programme to my individual needs is excellent.'
